Danny played his junior football with the Ocean Grove Grubbers in the BFL.
Recruited by the Collingwood Football Club in the 2005 AFL Draft, he is considered a solid midfield prospect. Stanley was delisted by Collingwood at the end of the 2009 season.[1]
After being de-listed by Collingwood in October 2009, Danny trained with Fremantle before being selected by Gold Coast in the 2010 Pre-season Draft.[2][3]
He finished the 2011 season playing every game, and finishing on 20 goals. Making him the first ever leading goal kicker for the Gold Coast, after never kicking a goal for Collingwood.
